Brief Description

Sherwood Green Nursery Gateway is a welcoming, child-centred setting dedicated to providing high-quality care and early education. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive and develop. We are now looking for a passionate and dedicated early years apprentice to join our supportive team.

Training to be Provided

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:



  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)


This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.

Future Prospects

Successful apprentices may have the opportunity to progress into a permanent Early Years Practitioner role upon completion. We also offer continued professional development and support to gain further childcare qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Support the daily care, learning, and development of children in line with the EYFS

  • Help plan and deliver fun, engaging activities to support children’s learning

  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues

  • Assist with meal times, personal care routines, and promoting independence

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment

  • Observe children and contribute to learning journeys and assessments

  • Support children’s emotional well-being and encourage positive behaviour

  • Follow nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health & safety

  • Work as part of a team and participate in training sessions and meetings

  • Develop knowledge and skills while completing apprenticeship coursework
