Brief Description
We’re seeking a motivated Mechanical & Electrical Engineer Apprentice to join our team. You’ll gain hands‑on experience while working toward a recognised qualification, training across both disciplines and supporting the maintenance, repair, and development of complex flexographic printing machinery.
Training to be Provided
- The Engineering Apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete
- You will attend college for one day per week at the Boston campus
Future Prospects
- Once the course is complete and the candidate proves to be fitting into the role, a full-time position may be available, with salary to be discussed
Vacancy Detail
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of flexographic printing presses and associated equipment
- Support fault-finding and diagnostics on mechanical and electrical systems
- Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
- Participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Work alongside experienced engineers on installation and upgrade projects
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department
Other Information
- A strong interest in mechanical and electrical engineering
GCSEs (or equivalent) in maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above preferred) - Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Basic IT literacy
- Previous hands-on or workshop experience
- A-Levels, BTEC, or equivalent in engineering or related subject
- Applicants must be able to reach the workplace reliably within the timeframes required for operational needs, and attend Boston College weekly
