Brief Description
We are looking for an adaptable, personable apprentice to be part of our team working in a modern workshop. We make and fit bespoke joinery from assorted timbers for the private sector, including windows, doors, bookcases, stairs, etc. The work is varied & interesting.
Training to be Provided
The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Carpentry & Joinery L2 standard. On completion, the apprentice will receive the NRQ L2 Architectural Joinery qualification. Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required, depending on current level.

The chance to continue working with a supportive employer and the possibility of progressing onto the Level 3 Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship.
Vacancy Detail
- Identify and confirm carpentry or joinery requirements and components against specification/drawings/CAD/BIM and in accordance with Building Regulations.
- Locate, handle, store, load, transport and position materials and components safely, minimising damage so they are ready for application.
- Prepare the site/workshop (including access equipment when necessary), power and hand tools appropriate to the project.
Calculate the most efficient quantity, length and area of resources. - Use and maintain hand tools, power tools and associated equipment to achieve optimum performance.
- Maintain a clear and tidy workspace and ensure that waste materials are disposed of in accordance with current legislation
- Carry out quality checks against specification and take remedial action where required or instructed.
- Some cleaning up and pride around your workshop.
- Being helpful and keen.
- Working in client’s homes we need to be respectful of their property and in our appearance and attitude.
Other Information
You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to have a telephone interview with Yeovil College prior to your application being passed on.
