Brief Description
Fareham Borough Council are looking for a new Vehicle Technician Apprentice. You will be studying toward your Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician (Heavy) apprenticeship Level 3.

Vacancy Detail
As an Apprentice Fleet Technician, you will join the Council’s Streetscene Transport Repair Unit, supporting the maintenance and repair of a wide range of fleet vehicles, including Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), light vehicles, and specialist equipment.
You will work as part of a skilled team, gaining hands-on experience while studying towards a Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance (Heavy).
Your role will involve learning how to ensure vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with UK legislation, while developing technical skills across a variety of vehicle systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with safety inspections on HGVs, light vehicles, trailers, and plant equipment
- Supporting servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and defect rectification on fleet vehicles
- Helping prepare vehicles for MOT to meet legislative standards
- Learning to use diagnostic equipment to identify faults across vehicle systems
- Assisting with specialist repairs including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and braking systems
- Completing records and updating fleet management systems for compliance
- Working in line with Health & Safety and Council procedures at all times
