Brief Description

This role will give you experience of working within a busy, fast paced team that maintain and control production schedules. You will work closely with all areas of this business including production, purchasing, warehousing and customer service. You will gain fantastic new skills and knowledge that will support your long term career.

Training to be Provided

You will be assigned to a training specialist who will work with you on a one-to-one basis to achieve your apprenticeship outcomes.


You will attend monthly online tutorials.


You will be invited to relevant masterclasses, in person at a dedicated delivery location. In these classes, you will work with other apprentices to gain a stronger understanding of the modules within your apprenticeship, helping you to understand, collaborate and great better results.

Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship there will be further progression opportunities with this employer, which may include a higher-level apprenticeship.

Purpose of the Role


To develop, maintain and control production schedules that ensure customer demand is met while optimising manufacturing capacity, inventory levels and material availability. The Supply Chain Planner works closely with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse and Customer Service to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.


You will receive full training and ongoing mentorship in your job role which will include;



  • Create and maintain production schedules in SAP based on customer demand, forecasts and available capacity.

  • Monitor production orders from release through to completion.

  • Ensure materials are available to support planned production.

  • Review and manage MRP messages, shortages and planning exceptions.

  • Liaise with production to resolve capacity constraints and adjust schedules where necessary.

  • Work closely with purchasing to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components.

  • Monitor inventory levels to maintain agreed stock targets.

  • Expedite production orders where customer priorities change.

  • Analyse production performance and identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency.

  • Maintain accurate planning parameters and master data within SAP.

  • Support new product introductions by ensuring planning data is correctly established.

  • Participate in daily production meetings and communicate planning priorities.

  • Produce planning reports and KPIs for management.
