Brief Description

The post holder will be responsible to a Senior Investigator and will undertake a two year programme of work and studies; this will include supporting and participating in a range of investigations and other counter fraud work for Solihull Council or other organisations.

Future Prospects

No guarantee of a permanent role at the end of the apprenticeship, but you would be able to apply for any internal roles.

Vacancy Detail

The post holder will:



  • Maintain case files and produce robust investigation plans to the required standard

  • Attend / undertake investigative interview

  • Prepare notes of discussions and witness statements relevant to investigations to the standards required by the Criminal Procedure & Investigation Act

  • Prepare files, applications and orders for court to the required standard for the activity undertaken

  • Obtain, record and present evidence in court proceedings as required

  • Independently make decisions and resolve problems

  • Understand and apply relevant legislation and regulatory requirements for the different types of investigation. Keep this knowledge up to date by identifying sources of information and identifying policy and law change

  • Prepare concise, accurate and professional reports in the agreed style and format including relevant evidence to support conclusions

  • Present findings both orally and in writing

  • Conclude investigations in line with laid down procedures

  • Arrange meetings with witnesses and subjects

  • Organise their work to comply with laid down standards and timeframes

  • Maintain professional working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

  • Prioritise cases and workload

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
