Working Week: Full-time, working five days per week on a rota between Monday and Sunday. Shifts include daytime duties, evening classes and regular weekend work.
Brief Description
Join AAAsports as a Sports Coach Apprentice and gain hands-on experience across coaching, customer service, administration, events and facility operations. You will support classes, members and the wider team while completing a Level 2 Community Activator Coach apprenticeship with training and mentoring.
Future Prospects
Successful apprentices may be offered a permanent position with AAAsports, subject to performance, available roles and business needs. Progression opportunities may include sport-specific coaching qualifications, increased Class responsibilities, senior or lead Coach roles, facility and event responsibilities, or further study such as a Level 4 Sports Coach apprenticeship.
Vacancy Detail
As an Apprentice Sports Coach, you will play an important role in creating a fun, safe and welcoming environment for members and their families. You will support the delivery of classes, camps, competitions and events, while learning the skills and knowledge needed to become a confident and capable coach.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare activity areas and safely set up equipment before classes.
- Welcome members, parents and carers, providing friendly and professional customer service.
- Assist with registrations, attendance checks and maintaining class registers.
- Support qualified coaches with warm-ups, activity delivery, demonstrations and cool-downs.
- Encourage and motivate members, providing positive feedback and helping them work towards their individual goals.
- Record member progress accurately using the AAAsports Skill Tracker.
- Ensure members are collected safely at the end of their classes.
- Respond to enquiries and assist with bookings, telephone calls, emails and general administration.
- Support the planning and delivery of camps, competitions, courses, parties and other AAAsports events.
- Carry out equipment checks and report any damage, hazards or safety concerns.
- Help maintain clean, safe and welcoming facilities, including activity areas, reception spaces and equipment.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will receive structured training and mentoring, giving you the opportunity to build your confidence and develop the skills required to lead activities under appropriate supervision. You will also attend team meetings, training sessions and apprenticeship learning activities as part of your professional development.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about sport, enjoys working with children and young people, and is eager to learn, develop and contribute as part of a supportive and energetic team.
Other Information
Appointment is subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check and right-to-work checks. Applicants must be willing to work evenings and weekends, undertake cleaning and equipment duties, participate in physical activities and travel to other AAAsports venues in Sunderland when required.
