Working Week: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm. The postholder may be required to work some evenings and weekends, for example, to support fundraising events.

This is a hybrid role so you will be required to have a suitable, confidential space to be able to work from home when required.
This apprenticeship provides an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in business administration and operations within a busy and supportive charity environment. Working as part of the Business and Innovation Team, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of Young Somerset while developing valuable skills in administration, communication, customer service, meeting coordination, and business support.
You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, providing a professional and efficient service to staff, visitors, partners, and young people. The role offers a varied workload, giving you the opportunity to learn about different aspects of business operations while contributing to the effective delivery of services across the charity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors, telephone calls, emails, and enquiries, providing a professional and welcoming service
- Support general office administration, including managing post, preparing meeting rooms, maintaining records, and producing documents and resources
- Monitor and manage shared inboxes, responding to and directing enquiries appropriately
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper filing systems in line with GDPR and organisational requirements
- Update information, documents, forms, templates, and guidance on the staff intranet
- Arrange meetings, training sessions, and events, including room bookings, hospitality, and accommodation where required
- Prepare agendas and take minutes for meetings as directed
- Coordinate the booking and use of meeting rooms, equipment, and resources
- Support central business functions through ordering goods and services and carrying out administrative research and enquiries
- Assist with project administration, including updating spreadsheets, templates, and communications
- Support health and safety processes by recording actions arising from routine checks
- Help administer company vehicle checks, maintenance schedules, and defect reporting
- Attend team meetings and contribute positively to team activities and service improvements
This apprenticeship is ideal for someone who is organised, enthusiastic, keen to learn, and interested in developing a career in business administration, operations, or office management. You will receive training and support throughout your apprenticeship while gaining valuable experience in a professional workplace setting.
Other Information
An Enhanced DBS clearance is required as post holder will be working in close proximity to children. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Acts.
