Brief Description

ROCKWOOL is the perfect place to start your mechatronics maintenance journey. As one of the world’s largest insulation companies, we have a broad range of equipment including Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatics, PLC logic around our hams hall site. You will have an interest in maintenance and a solid willingness to become a multi-skilled technician

Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Personal Qualities

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a practical and hands-on approach, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and a genuine interest in engineering and a willingness to learn. Furthermore, being reliable, conscientious, and adaptable to different situations is crucial.

Skills Required

Excellent communication skills, Great time keeping and able to demonstrate a clear interest in working in engineering.

Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: 
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies and End Point Assessment (EPA), you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.

Future Prospects

Your future can be whatever you make it. Once you complete your apprenticeship, there is the opportunity to be offered a role in our maintenance department, and beyond that, you can either specialise in a particular area of maintenance, or work towards climbing the ladder to a team leader and beyond.

What will you be doing?

You will be trained within a multi-disciplined maintenance team at this service centres, during your training you will experience all aspects of electrical and mechanical maintenance including automation.

Your development will be supported with a mentor and manager and will include:
• Completing a full apprenticeship programme.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures.
• Installation, testing, fault finding and on-going planned maintenance of automated equipment
• Responding to break downs in a timely fashion to minimise downtime of machinery
• Seek ways to improve all processes and procedures relating to maintenance.
• Develop excellent technical communication skills.
• Conversant in engineering maintenance theories and principles.
• Perform first-line routine mechanical and electrical maintenance, including removing and replacing components, cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and fault finding.
