Brief Description

Exciting Opportunity to become part of a UK based Engineering Company with over 30 years’ experience specialising in the design and manufacture of packaged process plant, equipment and pressure vessels for the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation and food industries.

Training to be Provided

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located at Holmer Road, Hereford HR4 9SX.


Level 3 comprises of:


Duration approximately 40-45 months



  • Year 1, between 22–39 weeks are spent at HWGTA Training Centre developing practical engineering skills, alongside one day per week in the classroom, completing the theoretical elements of the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

  • Year 2, predominantly based in your company, returning to the Training Centre one day per week to continue and complete the specialised elements of their Level 3 Diploma (Development Knowledge)


Years 3 - 4:



  • Based full-time in your company, developing practical skills and knowledge in preparation for the End Point Assessment to gain your Level 3 qualification

Future Prospects


  • On Successful completion of an apprenticeship with KGD you will be offered a full-time position within the company, this will include a Pension and Sickness scheme

  • Structured Routes up to management throughout the business

Vacancy Detail

An apprentice welder fabricator at KGD will have duties including:



  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings 

  • Develop number and measurement skills

  • Welding using multiple processes in numerous materials

  • Cutting

  • Folding

  • Base-frame Fabrication and fabrication skills

  • Tank fabrication

  • Vessel fabrication

  • Pipework, fabrication and welding (site based and factory based)

  • Assembly skills – manufacturing maintenance

  • Inspection and testing skills

  • Manufacturing Sequences

  • Quality Assurance 

Other Information

Some work as you progress may involve an earlier start time and a later finish time due to working for numerous companies at differing locations.
