Brief Description

Learn to install, maintain, and repair automated gates, barriers, and access control systems with an established Gloucestershire specialist. You'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers, with a clear path to becoming a fully qualified service and automation engineer.

Training to be Provided


  • Training will take place at Gloucestershire College, Cheltenham Campus, Princess Elizabeth Way, Cheltenham, GL51 7SJ. For the first two years, the apprentice will attend college two days per week, with the remaining three days spent working on site with PAC

  • After year two, training moves fully into the workplace, with assessments and observations carried out on site

Future Prospects


  • Become a fully qualified service and automation engineer, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent role at PAC

Vacancy Detail


  • Carry out planned maintenance on automated gates, barriers, bollards, and roller garage doors

  • Carry out repairs and upgrades to the above systems

  • Fault-find and carry out reactive maintenance on automation equipment

  • Install and troubleshoot intercom and access control systems

  • Complete all job documentation accurately, both digital and paper-based

  • Observe all health and safety guidelines to ensure the safety of yourself and others

  • Manage your own time on jobs to ensure maximum efficiency

  • Communicate job progress with the operations team

  • Share best practice and knowledge with other team members

  • Support senior engineers with additional tasks as your skills and confidence develop

Other Information


  • A full UK driving licence is preferred, as the role involves travelling to client sites across Gloucestershire. Candidates with a provisional licence will be considered if they are actively learning to drive.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • A genuine interest in engineering, mechanics, or working with your hands.
