Brief Description

Working for award-winning family bakers in Somerset, which has been an integral part of Glastonbury’s heritage for over 40 years. Burns the Bread proudly operates 6 shops across the region. This apprenticeship provides hands-on training in bakery production working within a team to provide high-standard products for our shops.

Training to be Provided

The apprentice will complete the Level 2 Baker Apprenticeship, gaining a nationally recognised Level 2 Baker qualification at the end of the programme. Training will be delivered by Yeovil College, with attendance required one day per week at the college alongside workplace learning throughout the rest of the week.

Future Prospects

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice may progress into a permanent Baker role within the business.

Vacancy Detail


  • Assist with daily production of breads and pastries for our shops

  • Follow food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures to maintain a compliant bakery

  • Support the team with preparation, setting up bakery and maintaining equipment

  • Learn and apply different techniques under supervision

  • Carry out stock rotation, labelling and cleaning routines 

Other Information


  • Apprentices must either already have GCSE English and maths at Grade 4/C or above, or they must work towards Functional Skills as part of the programme

  • Ability to travel independently between Glastonbury (workplace) and Yeovil (college) – Essential, due to early bakery start times and weekly college attendance
