Brief Description
The Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship combines practical work in a dental practice with study towards a recognised qualification. Apprentices learn patient care, infection control, chairside support and administration skills, gaining experience, a salary and a clear career pathway in dentistry.
Future Prospects
After completing the apprenticeship and registering with the General Dental Council (GDC), candidates can progress into a variety of dental careers, including:
- Qualified Dental Nurse
- Senior or Lead Dental Nurse
- Dental Practice Manager or Treatment Coordinator
- Specialist Dental Nurse (orthodontics, sedation, implants or radiography)
- Oral Health Educator
- Dental Hygienist or Dental Therapist (with further study)
- Dental Nurse Assessor, Tutor or Trainer
- The apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for long-term progression within the dental profession
Vacancy Detail
- Assist dentists during a wide range of clinical treatments
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment
- Decontaminate instruments following infection control procedures
- Support patient care before, during and after treatment
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes
