Brief Description

The role of the Domiciliary Care Assistant is to support clients to complete activities of daily living.

  • Systematically solve day to day issues, liaise with senior staff where and when necessary and complete all relevant documentation.

  • Provide assistance with personal care as per the care plan in the client’s file and the electronic app. This may include supporting clients with their personal care which includes continence management and oral hygiene.

  • Medication prompts and administration.

  • Management of delegated healthcare activities under the direction of a healthcare professional and Clifton Homecare manager and in line with Clifton Homecare’s Delegated Healthcare Activities policy and procedure.

  • Meal preparation and assistance with eating and/or drinking.

  • Support clients with moving and handling needs; using walking aids, hoists, slide sheets, in bed systems.

  • Grocery and/or other shopping.


Domestic duties.



  • Taking clients out either on an individual or group basis.

  • Safeguarding of clients and families by following: Training, policies and procedures and reporting appropriately.

  • Report writing and accurate completion of Medication Administration Records (MARs).

  • Promotion of human rights, equality and diversity, dignity, respect and person-centred care.

  • Provision of care and support in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and best interests’ principles.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Ensure consent at all times before supporting clients with tasks.

  • Support multidisciplinary team working. This will include working with Health Care professionals, CQC inspectors, clients, families and other care providers/ teams as required.

  • To assist with care plan maintenance and risk assessment completion.

  • Encourage clients to maintain independence and promote rehabilitation where possible.

  • Support innovative methods for care delivery.

  • Encourage and support health promotion within local and national health and social care strategies.

  • Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.

  • Cooperate with the induction, training, mentoring and evaluation of all new employees.

  • Support implementation of policies and procedures.

  • Support a work atmosphere which promotes a high quality of work life.

  • Support and maintain a culture of performance and excellence.
