Brief Description

In this role you will support the Engineering Design function in preparing engineering drawings & design documentation that are critical to the successful delivery of our construction projects. You will develop your technical skills while contributing to live engineering projects under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Training to be Provided


  • Training will be at North Lindsey College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer

  • Day release

  • You will undertake the Engineering Design technician standard

  • Engineering design technician / Skills England

Learning and Development:



  • Actively participate in your apprenticeship training programme and internal development opportunities

Drafting and CAD Support:



  • Support design engineers by preparing and updating engineering drawings and models using CAD software

  • Ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and produced in accordance with project requirements and company standards


Maintaining Standards:



  • Work to a high level of accuracy and professionalism in all engineering outputs

  • Follow established drawing standards, procedures, and quality requirements, while contributing to the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and best practices


Documentation and Reporting:



  • Assist with the preparation and management of engineering design documentation, primarily engineering drawings, but with an understanding of how design reports, risk assessments and supporting documents are prepared

  • Ensure documents are complete, well organised, and compliant with project and organisational requirements


Collaboration and Communication:



  • Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and project teams

  • Communicate clearly and professionally, sharing updates on tasks and raising questions where clarification is needed


Safety Awareness:



  • Support the integration of safety into the design process

  • Identify potential risks and ensure relevant safety information and residual design risks are clearly communicated within drawings and documentation

  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of your work
