Working Week: The working week will consist of four days working in the classroom and one day of online study. The school day for pupils is 8.40am to 3.15pm. However, staff meetings may be scheduled outside these core hours.
Brief Description
The Governors of Blue Coat Primary School are looking to appoint an Apprenticeship Teacher. The candidates will need to be committed to supporting children in being curious, motivated and independent learners. We are looking for individuals who put the children’s needs at the heart of everything that they do within the role.
Training to be Provided
As part of the apprenticeship, you will be working towards a BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), working with primary-age children 5–11 years at Blue Coat CofE Primary School, Wotton-under-Edge. The degree will be run by Coventry University, but there will be no requirement to travel to Coventry to study, as all training will be delivered online.

At the beginning of the apprenticeship, you will take on a support role in the classroom as directed by the class teacher and learning activities will include observations of experienced staff, teaching small groups or parts of lessons and team-teaching dependent on experience. As you work through the apprenticeship and your skills and confidence develop, you will take on more responsibility for teaching and during your final year you will reach 80% of a qualified teacher’s timetable to meet the requirements for QTS. This ensures you are fully prepared for your first years as a qualified teacher.
