Brief Description

The Governors of St Edwards CE school are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic hard working and highly motivated Business administration assistant and a Teaching Assistant to work within a classroom providing support to groups and individual children with SEND needs in this large friendly primary school.

Training to be Provided


  • Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard

  • Apprenticeship learning will take place in the workplace & at Rochdale Training one day per month

It is expected at Level 1 that the postholder will work under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of the classroom teacher to support access to learning.

Support a child with disabilities or special educational needs by:



  • Providing care and encouragement and supporting personal hygiene needs

  • Providing support to help the child to participate in activities and experiences

  • Setting up, maintaining and dismantling displays

  • Apprentices who undertake a Level 3 apprenticeship are paid the NMW rate of £8.00 per hour for Apprentices as set by Government for the first 12 months, £15,434.33, and the nationally published living wage of £12.71 per hour for the remaining months of the contract, £24,521. Pro rata to TTO term time only plus 5 inset days and 30 hours per week.
