Working Week: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm with a 30-minute lunch break and a 15-minute tea break each day.
Brief Description
This is a hands-on role learning how to maintain, diagnose and repair motor vehicles. From basic maintenance including servicing and basic repairs through to more complex repairs including engine re-builds.
Training to be Provided
- The apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle)
- College attendance will be at Colchester Institute - the Colchester Campus one day per week during term time
Future Prospects
Upon completion you can work as a qualified vehicle technician in a garage or dealership and later progress into specialist roles like diagnostics or electric vehicles, senior technician jobs, or management positions.
Vacancy Detail
Day-to-day role responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out vehicle servicing and check overs
- Carrying out general repairs including changing brake pads and discs, tyres, clutches and suspension items
- Diagnosing faults
- Ordering parts from suppliers
- Assisting with more complex repairs
- Assisting other team members where necessary
- Keeping the workshop clean and tidy
- Always being punctual

This is manual work in a workshop which is open to the outdoors.
