  • Working Week: 32.5 Hours per week – term time only. The successful candidate will work term-time only but there are further opportunities to work in the wrap-around care and holiday club supporting the EYFS children, for the right candidate if they desire.

The Wilmslow Academy are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Early Years Apprentice to join our school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to learn and develop their skills while working with young children in a supportive environment.

  • Work towards achieving the required qualifications for the role of nursery worker and undertake the necessary training to achieve this role.

  • Contribute towards providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children at the nursery.

  • Help children learn numeracy and language skills through play and interactive games

  • Assist with the supervision of activities, such as arts and crafts, music, cooking and outings.

  • Understand and adhere to nursery policies and procedures, particularly in relation to safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety and emergencies.

  • Liaise with parents to share information about their child’s progress.

  • Take an active interest in children and their families, treating them with respect at all times and maintaining high levels of communication with parents in particular, welcoming their concerns and questions.

  • Alongside nursery workers, deliver an exciting play programme suitable for the age ranges and developmental needs of children at the nursery.

  • Assist with planning and delivering activities which help children work towards achieving the early learning goals (ELGs).

  • Assist with providing a caring and stimulating environment for children, which considers their developmental needs and allows them to reach their full potential.

  • Understand individual responsibilities in terms of child protection and safeguarding, and monitor any issues in line with the nursery’s policy and local procedures.
