Brief Description
Proteus are looking for a CAD apprentice to join their busy and forward-thinking team. It is an incredible opportunity to start a career with one of the industry leaders. Duties will include preparing engineering designs, working with clients, and assisting the development of 3D models.
Training to be Provided
- 2 ½ Year Apprenticeship Programme
- Design and Draughting Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours - delivered in the workplace
- Level 3 BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment - Day Release or Remote Delivery (Optional qualification)
- Specialist Training Programme Blocks of your choice
- End Point Assessment - Knowledge Test, Practical Test and Presentation/Interview
Future Prospects
Once you have completed your apprenticeship, you will have the chance to work as a qualified digital engineering technician if you are the right candidate for the role, which in turn can lead on to design office manager or other senior level roles within the organisation.

An incredible opportunity has arisen to join Proteus Facades as an Apprentice CAD Engineer. Proteus delivers projects all over the world under some of the most challenging logistical circumstances.
This apprenticeship is for anyone looking to start a career in facades and structural metalwork detailing, you will learn about modelling/detailing; co-ordination between work packages; onsite buildability and construction methods. You will be developing skills that will put you at the leading edge of modern construction techniques.
You will be responsible for:
- Preparing detailed engineering designs for structural metalwork
- Producing technical drawings and schedules
- Working with clients and contractor partners
- Assisting with the development of 3D Revit models to contract design information and deadlines
Utilising various methods of communication as and when required.
Other Information
Apprentices must show commitment to the following:
- To achieve apprenticeship standard within the specified time frame
- Attend the apprenticeship induction programme
- Attend all of the training sessions for the programme whenever necessary
- Undertake any other required development work as part of the apprenticeship programme as requested
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff
Computer literacy is essential: Candidates must be competent in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience of CAD software is not essential as full training will be given. The role of a digital engineering apprentice could be the first step into a varied and exciting career! You will need to have an interest in engineering and design, alongside the ability to manage your time well and work to strict deadlines. The role is mainly office-based, but there will also be opportunities to visit different sites, where you will be able to see what you have designed come to life. You will need to be aware of, and work to different industry standards. A mentor will work alongside you to support your development during the apprenticeship but you will also need to take responsibility for managing your own workload and show initiative.
