Brief Description
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a career in the design and/or manufacture of leading-edge RF/Microwave electronic components for use in the aerospace, defence, and medical industries, specifically oriented around the electronics aspect of engineering.
Training to be Provided
- The apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in L3 Engineering Fitter (Elec).
- The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course.
- This is a day release programme, which means you will attend Lincoln College, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.
Future Prospects
Upon the successful completion of the apprenticeship and dependant on the students’ performance during the apprenticeship, there may be higher education opportunities available e.g HNC/HND in Electronics. Sponsored degree options may also be available to the right candidates. The successful completion of the apprenticeship can lead to Engineering opportunities either within the Production or Development Teams.

The apprenticeship can be the first step in a long and rewarding career within this unique engineering discipline. It will involve learning most of the disciplines required to manufacture Alaris Linwaves' leading-edge RF and Microwave products. Success in the Apprenticeship may lead to further opportunities to embark on higher level education.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Assembly techniques including SMT soldering, wiring assemblies, box build assemblies, and lid sealing processes.
- DC testing and verification of the power supply and digital electronic designs.
- RF testing and optimisation of microwave products.
Other Information
Due to the nature of this engineering discipline, a higher level of manual dexterity is required, as well as the requirement to use high magnification microscopes.
