Brief Description
SO32 1QD. We are looking for a motivated and practical Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join our laboratory team. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn, developing hands‑on laboratory skills while working towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.
Training to be Provided
Laboratory Technician Level 3.
Future Prospects
Because of the technical experience you will gain from working in a laboratory, you will gain skills which many graduates have yet to develop. If you have practical ability, the ability to solve problems and good communication skills, there are opportunities for progression towards higher qualifications.
Vacancy Detail
About the role:
As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will support the day‑to‑day work of the laboratory, assisting with testing, preparing samples and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will be trained and supported throughout the apprenticeship. (Southampton).
The candidate will cover dispatch all day on a Wednesday and help with weighing out peptides for dispatch each morning. We are looking to develop this candidate to work in QC, analysing peptide quality ready for dispatch. They will also be responsible for the archive store and our retention samples
Key duties include:
- Assisting with laboratory tests and experiments under supervision
- Preparing samples, materials and equipment for testing
- Accurately recording results and maintaining laboratory records
- Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment
- Following health & safety procedures and quality standards

Apprenticeship details:
- Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship
- A combination of on‑the‑job training and off‑the‑job learning

- No previous laboratory experience required
What we’re looking for:
- An interest in science and laboratory work
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Basic IT skills
- GCSEs (or predicted grades), particularly maths and Science, are desirable but not essential
