Brief Description

The apprentice will deliver a high-quality, professional service to Hull University Business School (HUBS), working as part of the HUBS Academic Services Support Team. Flexibility is essential, as the postholder will be required to work across different areas of the Business School to support the different professional services teams. 

Training to be Provided

Apprenticeship Standard in Business Administration Level 3 with Learning Skills Partnership. This apprenticeship is delivered through work-based learning, which means that all training is done at the workplace, eliminating the need to attend college. The successful candidate will be allocated a tutor who will visit on site every 4-6 weeks and deliver all of the training to gain the qualification and provide the resources to complete work between visits.

Vacancy Detail

This is a wide-ranging role, exposing the apprentice to various aspects of administrative and service support to successfully deliver operational goals. The apprentice will be fully supported so they can make a direct contribution to the smooth running of the Business School operations, working closely with academic and professional service colleagues. Specific duties are likely to vary around operational needs, but may include:



  • Providing front-line reception duties, responding to enquiries in person, by telephone, or via email through the Business School’s main reception.

  • Supporting internal communication by helping to update the Business School SharePoint site, gathering information for e-bulletins, and distributing materials across the school. It may also include contributing to external communications, such as collating key information and scheduling or preparing social media posts.

  • Supporting room bookings, event preparation, and meeting logistics for Business School activities.

Other Information

Working hours – 36.5 Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) Friday – 8:30am-4:00pm (1 hour lunch).
