Working Week: 30 hours a week on a rota system to be issued in advance. Will include evenings and weekends. Shifts to be confirmed.
Brief Description
Peter Ashley Activity Centre (Fort Widley Equestrian Centre) are looking for an apprentice to join their friendly team. The position will include general yard duties i.e. mucking out, turning out/in, riding & exercise. Would suit someone looking for a career in the equine industry.
Training to be Provided
- Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training
- You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills
Future Prospects
- For the right candidate there may be progression on to the Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work:
All aspects of horse care e.g.
- Grooming
- Mucking out
- Trimming and clipping
- Plaiting
- Lungeing and riding
- Health care
- Feeding
- Assisting with running of events
- Assisting with customer care and experience
- Functional Skills if required
Other Information
Due to the rural location of this apprenticeship, you must be able to get to work reliably. Also, due to the nature of this role, you must be happy to work outdoors in all weathers.
