  • Working Week: This apprenticeship is offered on a flexible rota basis to meet the operational needs of The GVP Club Minimum contracted hours of 16 hours per week and up to 45 in busy periods Working days (5 days out of a 7-day week subject to hours), exact working days and hours TBC.

Brief Description

Work with the award-winning GVP Club, a luxury Hungarian Vizsla breeding programme, who are dedicated to producing exceptional family companions for clients across the UK and the rest of the world. They are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated apprentice with a genuine passion for dogs to gain hands-on experience.

Training to be Provided


  • You will be working towards the Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare Assistant apprenticeship qualification, and all training will be provided on site during your paid working hours

  • Your day-to-day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach

Future Prospects

Possibility of progressing to the Level 3 Animal Care Apprenticeship.

Vacancy Detail

Working alongside the Founder and wider GVP team, you will develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to work within a professional breeding environment while helping maintain the exceptionally high standards of welfare and care for which The GVP Club is known.


No previous professional dog experience is required. Full training, mentoring and support will be provided throughout your apprenticeship.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Daily Canine Care

  • Feed adult dogs and puppies according to individual feeding plans

  • Ensure fresh drinking water is always available

  • Observe and report any changes in health or behaviour

  • Assist with grooming and general husbandry

  • Maintain exceptional standards of canine welfare at all times

  • Puppy Development


Support the GVP companion system with:



  • Early puppy socialisation

  • Environmental exposure

  • Confidence building

  • Basic training foundations

  • Handling and grooming exercises

  • Crate training

  • Toilet training routines

  • Preparing puppies for their forever homes

  • Exercise, enrichment and training

Other Information


  • You do need to be 18+ for this role due to the employer needing you to be able to drive (and for insurance purposes) 

  • The use of personal mobile phones during working hours is not permitted unless specifically authorised as part of your duties, such as taking photographs or videos for The GVP Club, recording training progress or communicating with the team

  • Personal calls, messaging and social media should only be accessed during designated breaks

  • Our priority is ensuring every dog and puppy receives our full attention, care and supervision at all times
