Working Week: Central office base in Doncaster, however for each work day the location will be at various different primary schools and community settings across Doncaster and on occasion other areas in South Yorkshire.
Brief Description
Join Legacy Sport Yorkshire as a Sport Coach Apprentice and help inspire children, young people and families across South Yorkshire. You'll learn to plan and deliver fun, high-quality PE and sports sessions, promoting physical and mental wellbeing, teamwork and lifelong participation in sport while gaining valuable coaching experience.
Training to be Provided
Level 4 School Sports Coach Apprenticeship Standard
Sector specific CPD, such as;
- Multi-skills coaching - practical coaching skills
- Behaviour Management
- Community engagement and inclusion training
- Volunteer recruitment and support
- Outreach and behaviour-change approaches
- Safeguarding / Prevent
- Mental Health and Well-being
Future Prospects
We will support you to gain the skills, experience and confidence needed for:
- Careers in community sport, coaching or physical activity programmes
- Roles within local authorities, leisure providers, charities and community organisations

Vacancy Detail
Legacy Sport Coach Apprentice
Schools:
- With support plan, deliver, and assess a wide range of engaging
coaching sessions including but not limited to: PE lessons, after - school clubs, community sessions and other projects within the company - To be adaptable and have the ability to change sessions to suit a diverse range of pupils with different physical and learning needs
- Liaise and collaborate with the PE lead from each school to tailor
programme to fit the school needs - Assist on competitions and event delivery, ensuring high standards at all times.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that embodies the ‘Legacy Way’ in all project areas
Community and Holiday Provision
- Assist on community sessions and holiday provision
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment where all children feel welcome
- Ensure a high retention rate within all sessions and also strive to achieve high numbers of participants in all of your sessions
- Develop partnerships with local clubs to enhance sports participation pathways for children
Safety and Risk Management:
- Ensure all sessions meet safety standards and safeguarding protocols
- Respond appropriately to injuries and follow school/Legacy Sport
procedures for reporting all safeguarding and child protection incidents
Team Collaboration:
- Work effectively with all team members
- Ensure using the correct lines of reporting (reporting to line manager)
- Draw upon other team members knowledge in order to broaden your knowledge and enhance your sessions and events
- Share your own knowledge and specialism to support other team members when planning their sessions and events
