Brief Description
To support the Site Team in maintaining a safe, clean, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, visitors, and hirers. The apprentice will receive on-the-job training and develop practical skills in site maintenance, health and safety, facilities management, and grounds maintenance.
Training to be Provided
- This course takes a hybrid approach to learning, combining hands-on training with knowledge-based instruction
- Practical skills are delivered over two days every quarter at our purpose-built Building Block construction training centres in Worcester
- Classroom sessions and online masterclasses led by industry experts and cover the theoretical elements

Vacancy Detail
Daily Site Duties:
- Support the opening and closing of the school site
- Conduct basic site checks and report any defects or hazards
- Help maintain cleanliness and presentation of the school grounds
- Carry out litter picking across the school site, including playgrounds, pathways, car parks, and sports facilities
- Empty external waste bins as required
- Assist with setting up and putting away tables, chairs, staging, and equipment for lessons, examinations, assemblies, parents’ evenings, and school events
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Learn and assist with basic building maintenance tasks
- Support the Site Team with minor repairs such as fixing furniture, replacing light bulbs, and basic decorating
- Assist with routine inspections of school facilities and equipment
- Learn how to use a range of hand and power tools safely
- Support planned maintenance projects across the school
Grounds Maintenance:
- Assist with keeping outdoor areas tidy and safe
- Support grass cutting, hedge trimming, leaf clearance, and other seasonal grounds maintenance activities
- Help maintain sports facilities and outdoor learning areas
Health and Safety:
- Follow all school health and safety procedures
- Report hazards, accidents, or maintenance issues promptly
- Assist with fire safety checks and emergency procedures as directed
- Learn about risk assessments and safe working practices
Security:
- Support site security by reporting concerns and ensuring areas are secure when required
- Assist with unlocking and locking buildings under supervision
- Help prepare facilities for community hirers and school events
Other Information
- The role involves working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- The apprentice will be required to undertake a variety of physical tasks including lifting, carrying, moving furniture, and maintaining school grounds
