Brief Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join Building Energy Experts, an award-winning sustainability consultancy, as an Apprentice Energy Technician. You'll gain hands-on experience helping improve the energy performance of homes across the UK while working towards the Energy Manager Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Training to be Provided
Apprentices will gain expertise in:
- Energy tariffs and data analysis
- Heat loss and energy reporting
- Electrical systems and HVAC
- Water and wastewater management
- Carbon reduction strategies
- Compliance + Regulation
The programme is delivered over 13 months, as 13 modules in 4 weekly cycles – teach, watch, read and assess.
The training is delivered via TEAMS and in the workplace.
End Point Assessment Overview:
This EPA has 2 assessment methods.
- Technical report and presentation with questions
- Interview with underpinning portfolio of evidence
Overall EPA and apprenticeship can be graded:
- Fail
- Pass
- Merit
- Distinction

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you'll have gained nationally recognised qualifications, valuable industry experience and specialist technical skills that are in growing demand.
There will be opportunities to continue developing into specialist energy assessment, retrofit, testing and building performance roles as Building Energy Experts continues to grow.
Vacancy Detail
You'll begin by training in air tightness testing, visiting new-build developments across the UK to assess how efficiently buildings retain heat. As your knowledge grows, you'll develop skills in:
- Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
- Retrofit assessments
- Ventilation testing
- Cavity wall inspections
- Building performance surveys
- Collecting and analysing energy performance data
As part of your apprenticeship you will:
- Carry out air tightness testing on new-build properties
- Assist with domestic energy assessments and EPC surveys
- Support retrofit assessments and building inspections
- Collect accurate information about buildings, heating systems and insulation
- Record and upload assessment data using specialist software
- Work safely on construction and residential sites
- Travel to projects across the UK
- Work closely with retrofit coordinators, surveyors and technical specialists
- Build positive relationships with customers and clients
- Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and professionalism
- Continue developing your technical knowledge throughout your apprenticeship
What you'll learn
Alongside your Energy Manager Level 3 Apprenticeship, you'll receive additional industry training, including opportunities to gain qualifications in:
- Air Tightness Testing (ATTMA Level 1)
- Domestic Energy Assessment (DEA)
- Retrofit Assessment (PAS 2035)
- Ventilation Testing (Part F)
- Borescope and cavity wall inspections
Other Information
This role involves regular travel throughout the UK with overnight stays Monday to Friday. You must be comfortable working away from home during the week.
You will also need a clean driving licence as you may be required to drive once you have had your initial training.
