Brief Description

Launch your engineering career with Shenton Group. Develop practical electrical and mechanical skills maintaining critical power systems, including diesel generators. Gain hands-on experience alongside experienced engineers while completing a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician apprenticeship.

Training to be Provided

Training will primarily take place at Shenton House, Andover, where the apprentice will work alongside experienced engineers maintaining and servicing critical power systems.


In addition, PDT will deliver apprenticeship training at our offices approximately once per month. The apprentice will also complete off-the-job learning and practical workplace training as part of the Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

Future Prospects

Upon successful completion, the apprentice may progress into a Maintenance Engineer role within Shenton Group. The skills and qualifications gained can also support future careers as a Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Specialist Power Systems Engineer across the engineering and energy sectors.

  • Support the maintenance, servicing and repair of diesel generators and associated equipment

  • Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs

  • Learn to diagnose faults and support repairs on electrical and mechanical systems

  • Work with engines, alternators, control panels, fuel systems, cooling systems and associated components

  • Complete job records and service reports using company systems

  • Support testing, inspection and commissioning activities

  • Follow health and safety procedures and site requirements at all times

  • Work alongside experienced engineers both at Shenton Group facilities and customer sites

Other Information

 A full UK driving licence is required due to the site-based nature of this role and travel to client locations.
