Brief Description
We are looking for a motivated apprentice to join our engineering team in a hands-on, multi-skilled role combining maintenance engineering and toolroom practices.
Training to be Provided
- The learner will be studying the Engineering Maintenance Technician - Dual discipline Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification
- Day release to West Suffolk College

Vacancy Detail
Main Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Toolroom operations
- Assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Support breakdown response and fault finding
- Work on motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and pneumatic systems
- Help improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
- Toolroom & Machining
- Manufacture and repair components using:
o Manual milling machines
o Centre lathes
o Surface grinders
- Produce precision parts (shafts, bushes, spacers, brackets).
- Support the development of jigs, fixtures, and tooling
- Carry out bench fitting and assembly work
- Help deliver rapid in-house repairs to support production
- Assist with basic electrical fault finding
- Work with sensors, relays, and control systems (under supervision)
- Engineering Fundamentals:
o Read engineering drawings and follow job instructions
o Use precision measuring equipment
o Learn tolerances, fits, and material properties
