Brief Description

Join Stirling Dynamics as a Production Apprentice and help build advanced aircraft simulator controls used across the aerospace industry. You'll gain hands-on experience assembling electrical, electronic and mechanical components while working towards a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship with Weston College.

Training to be Provided

You will complete the Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship delivered by Weston College alongside your workplace training.


Your workplace mentor will be Chris Holloway, Workshop Lead, who will provide ongoing guidance and support throughout your apprenticeship.


You will also have the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues across the production, testing, electronic and mechanical engineering teams, giving you a broad understanding of the product lifecycle and manufacturing process.

Future Prospects

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to progress into a full-time position within Stirling Dynamics (subject to business requirements). There may also be opportunities to undertake further qualifications and continue developing your engineering career.

Vacancy Detail

The ACT (Active Control Technologies) portion of the business that delivers the inceptor products, is looking to build the production team by taking on an apprentice who will focus on the assembly side of the production activities.


The production involves the assembly of all the Stirling inceptor products. The product comprises of electrical, electronic and mechanical subassemblies and therefore the role would involve tasks such as:



  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics and instructions

  • Stacking and modifying PCBs

  • Assembly/installation of various sensor types

  • All wiring within the product

  • Assembly of motors, gearboxes, mechanical mechanisms

  • Assembly of frames and enclosures

  • Completing build documentation


The successful applicant will be enrolled on the Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship with Weston College. They will be mentored by one of our highly experienced team members, however, to provide the apprentice with a wider appreciation of the product lifecycle, they will have the opportunity to work within the following departments as part of a rotation scheme:



  • Engineering

  • Test

  • This is a fully site-based role and attendance on-site is required every working day.
