  • Working Week: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm (35 hours per week). Where required, an 8:00am start may be accommodated. Overtime may be available depending on age and business needs, in line with Working Time Regulations.

Brief Description

Start your engineering career with Swietelsky as a Level 3 Apprentice Plant Maintenance Engineer. Gain hands-on experience maintaining plant and machinery while working towards a recognised engineering qualification.

Training to be Provided

Training will be delivered by Train'd Up through a combination of workplace learning and off-the-job training. The apprentice will receive regular support from a dedicated Skills Coach, complete online learning, attend progress reviews and build practical skills while working alongside experienced engineers at the Worksop Traincare Depot. Off-the-job training will make up at least 20% of the apprentice's working hours in line with apprenticeship requirements.

Future Prospects

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to secure a permanent position as a Plant Maintenance Engineer. As skills and experience develop, there may also be opportunities to progress into senior engineering, specialist technical or supervisory roles, supported by further training and professional development.

  • Assist experienced engineers with planned, preventative and reactive maintenance on plant and equipment.

  • Carry out basic mechanical maintenance, including lubrication, alignment and bearing replacement.

  • Support electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and control system maintenance under supervision.

  • Inspect machinery, identify faults and assist with repairs.

  • Record maintenance activities, faults and parts used using company systems.

  • Follow planned maintenance schedules and engineering procedures.

  • Use engineering tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) safely.

  • Attend apprenticeship training, college sessions and assessments.

  • You must be able to travel to Worksop Traincare Depot and attend all apprenticeship training and reviews.
