Brief Description

The property maintenance officer carries out a varied role in our properties. No day is the same as appointments will vary from investigatory work to minor fixes to turning around void properties.

Training to be Provided


  • Property Maintenance Operative Level 2

  • Training with Milton Keynes College

  • Ongoing training, support and development with the employer

Future Prospects


  • There is a full time opportunity to remain permanent at the end of the Apprenticeship

Vacancy Detail

An important part of this role is to support families and vulnerable people that we home live in safe and secure properties. We expect good time management skills, providing effective and well-presented solutions for the best repairs/guidance for all parties involved.


Duties expected



  • Basic Electrical works such as changing Light fittings, power sockets

  • Basic Plumbing works such as fixing minor leaks, changing tap washers

  • Ability to change locks

  • Painting and Decorating skills

  • Occasional Gardening

  • Investigation of faults and compiling maintenance reports

  • Supporting the Property Managers with Inspections, Move Ins/Move outs as required

  • Covering on call as per Rota

  • Learning and understanding the process of providing a first and immediate response to fault finding in buildings

  • Remedial work to the internal and external fabric of a building

  • Conduct the general day-to-day maintenance required to keep a range of properties in a good state of repair

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, and minor planned and responsive repair works, using a broad range of fundamental trade skills including carpentry, joinery, plumbing, plastering, brick and block work, external works and associated finishing trades including tiling, painting, and decorating

  • Operatives use a wide variety of hand and power tools, materials, components, fixtures and fittings, ensuring work that is carried out is compliant with health and safety requirements, and meets building safety regulations and legislation

As part of their Apprenticeship, the successful candidate will complete off-the-job training—dedicated learning that takes place during paid working hours and focuses on developing the skills and knowledge needed for the role. This includes structured activities such as workshops, online learning, shadowing, and practical training, ensuring they gain the full competence required to excel in the position while contributing effectively to the organisation. Predicted grades will be accepted. However, any offers made will be conditional, pending actual grades.
