Brief Description

Are you looking to kickstart your career in the engineering sector? We have an exciting opportunity at CPI Prints as an Engineering Apprentice. The business is growing, and we are looking for an energetic, creative and innovative team player. The working week will be varied with on the job training along with course content requirements.

Training to be Provided

Year 1


Day release (Tuesdays) focuses on knowledge


Skills Training delivered in blocks of 4 weeks (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday)


Focus is on fundamentals to prepare the learner for the workplace


Year 2


Day release (Mondays) focuses on knowledge


Workplace integration


Workplace visits from IPS trainer every 4-6 weeks


Year 3-4


Monthly day release during year 3 to work on an engineering project


Continued workplace visits from IPS trainer every 4-6 weeks


Learner is prepared for transition into gateway and apprenticeship assessment completing all requirements of the apprenticeship

Future Prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is the possibility to apply for a permanent position if a vacancy arises within the Engineering Department.

Vacancy Detail

A typical week may involve:



  • Attending machinery break downs, being coached by your mentor on repairing a machine whilst adhering to health and safety rules

  • Studying machinery operational guides

  • Inspection of equipment

  • Maintenance of all plant equipment

  • Testing equipment

  • Learning how to handover and communicate to other shifts

  • Learning and being coached on engineering practice and theories

  • Learning how to be risk aware

  • Logical reasoning to resolve problems

Enrolment onto your apprenticeship programme is subject to prior attainment checks, and your Personal Learning Record will be reviewed upon successful appointment. We are also obligated to follow the guidelines around eligibility, set out by the government apprenticeship funding rules.
