Brief Description

As an Apprentice School Travel Assistant, you will support the Team Leader for Passenger Assistants by providing administrative support, including recording sickness and absence, arranging cover, carrying out general office and financial administration, and handling incoming and outgoing service-related calls.

Although we can’t guarantee you a permanent job at the end of your apprenticeship, many apprentices remain with SCC following the completion of their apprenticeship.   • Complete and work towards a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification

  • Provide administrative support for the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective school travel services

  • Assist with travel planning, route optimisation, and purchase order processing

  • Support recruitment, training, and health and safety activities for School Passenger Assistants

  • Liaise with schools, transport providers, families, and other stakeholders to coordinate travel arrangements

  • Maintain accurate school travel records, databases, and reporting information

  • Manage and resolve customer enquiries, complaints, incidents, and safeguarding concerns, escalating where necessary

  • Process Personal Travel Budget and bus pass applications

  • Contribute to risk assessments, audits, and service improvement projects

  • Attend required training, meetings, and maintain apprenticeship records and evidence portfolios
