Brief Description

This apprenticeship will work alongside experienced engineers to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a competent engineering professional. The role provides hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance while supporting safe and efficient site operations and completing a recognised apprenticeship.

Training to be Provided


  • Training will take place at Doncaster College via day-release where you will be taught by industry trained professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge and experience

Vacancy Detail


  • Assist qualified engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM), inspections and routine servicing of plant and equipment

  • Support reactive maintenance activities and learn fault-finding techniques on mechanical and electrical systems

  • Learn how to work safely with machinery, tools and engineering equipment under supervision

  • Help maintain accurate maintenance records, job sheets and engineering documentation

  • Develop an understanding of components such as motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, sensors, pneumatics and hydraulics

  • Observe and support installation, repair and modification work on machinery and equipment

  • Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures, including safe isolation, permit-to-work and PPE requirements

  • Attend college, training sessions and assessments as required as part of the apprenticeship programme

  • Work collaboratively with engineers, production teams and other departments to support operational performance

  • Contribute ideas and support continuous improvement activities as knowledge and confidence develop


Measure of Effectiveness:



  • Full compliance to all H&S procedures

  • Complete college courses, training and assessments to the required standards

  • Demonstrate practical skills on site to Maintenance Managers

Other Information


  • Science, Design Technology or a related technical subject is advantageous.

  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in engineering or maintenance.

  • Ability to meet the entry requirements of the relevant apprenticeship standard and training provider.
