Brief Description

This role supports the development and delivery of sports, coaching and community activities, to help increase physical activity participation and promote active lifestyles in leisure centres and communities across Newark and Sherwood.

Vacancy Detail


  • Working as part of the Sport and Active Lifestyles team you will support young people to access volunteering opportunities, provide sessions during school holiday periods, and work with community groups to provide sport and physical activity that is suitable for a range of ages and abilities.

  • You will assist with the delivery of health and wellbeing sessions in schools, communities and workplaces that will broaden your skills and understanding of the sector.

  • Day to day your role will be varied and may include office based administration, school engagement, leisure centre coaching support, attending events and delivering sports sessions.

  • This apprenticeship is part-funded and supported by Coach Core's charitable programme, creating employment opportunities for 16–24-year-olds who have faced barriers to education, employment or career progression. We support young people with the potential to succeed who may have experienced financial disadvantage, additional learning needs, caring responsibilities or other personal or socio-economic challenges.

  • No previous experience is required – we're looking for enthusiasm, potential and a willingness to learn. Coach Core provides additional support throughout the apprenticeship, while the employer is responsible for the final recruitment decision.
