Brief Description

New Steps is a day care provider for people with disabilities. Your role will be to provide care and support to people with differing needs. You will have a person centred approach giving individuals opportunities to access the community and support with activities within our base while maintaining respect and dignity at all times.

Training to be Provided


  • Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship Level 2 (GCSE)

  • Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate 

  • Training will be delivered in the workplace

Your role will support the day-to-day operations in providing care and support to people with a range of differing needs, delivering high-quality, person-centred care to individuals. The successful candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience and new skills, working alongside experienced staff.


What you’ll do at work


Listed below are the tasks this role will be primarily responsible for:



  • To attend to all personal care needs, in line with individual requirements of the service user

  • To use specialist equipment to ensure all care needs are met

  • To follow requirements of the care plan, support plan, risk management plan etc. as appropriate

  • To encourage individuals to participate in activities and support individuals in those activities

  • To develop/contribute to the development of activities that are of benefit/interest to the individual

  • To work to all policies and procedures, e.g. safeguarding, infection control, health and safety etc.

  • To work as a keyworker

  • To participate and contribute to service user reviews

  • To work independently with service users as required – either within a care or community setting, escorting on transport etc.

  • To support people to access community based activities, reflecting their choices and interests, including the use of public resources and transport

  • To complete and maintain documentation relevant to the service and the service user

  • To highlight any areas of concern to a senior member of staff

  • Maintain a clean and tidy environment

  • To ensure service users feel respected and fully involved in their care

  • Training will be through course worksheets and mentoring by other qualified staff
