Nursery Apprentice – Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in providing a safe, secure, caring and stimulating environment for children
• Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities that promote children’s learning, development and wellbeing
• Assist with daily routines, including mealtimes, nappy changing, toileting, handwashing and sleep times, as appropriate
• Build positive, caring relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues
• Supervise children at all times and follow nursery safeguarding, health and safety policies and procedures
• Work effectively as part of the nursery team, following instructions and guidance from experienced practitioners and management
• Communicate professionally with parents and carers, referring queries or concerns to the appropriate senior member of staff
• Recognise and report any safeguarding concerns, accidents, incidents or changes in a child’s behaviour in line with nursery procedures
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions, training and professional development opportunities as required
• Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the apprentice role, under suitable supervision and in line with nursery policies and procedures
