Brief Description
An Early Years Apprenticeship combines practical experience with training to learn how to care for and support children’s learning and development. Apprentices work in settings such as nurseries, helping plan activities, keep children safe and support their individual needs while working towards a recognised qualification.

- Childcare and Supervision: Provide attentive care and supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of young children.
- Learning and Development: Support children’s learning, development and social skills through age-appropriate activities and play.
- Health and Safety: Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment in accordance with nursery policies and procedures.
- Personal Care: Assist children with toileting, nappy changing, handwashing, dressing and mealtimes as required.
- Play and Activities: Organise and participate in creative activities, storytelling, singing, outdoor play and educational games.
- Emotional Support: Encourage positive behaviour, build children’s confidence and provide comfort and reassurance.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and carers about children’s progress and daily needs.
- Safeguarding: Follow child protection procedures and report any concerns regarding a child’s welfare.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with nursery staff to provide high-quality care and support each child’s individual needs.
- Observation and Reporting: Monitor children’s development, record observations and report any concerns to the appropriate staff.
