Brief Description
CAD Engineering in Automotive & Aerospace industry. Using AutoDesk or CATIA you will produce technical drawings and layouts, Read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions and find and fix any mistakes or inaccuracies in time for production.
Qualifications Required
5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

Training to be Provided
Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including:
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer
On completion of your studies and End Point Assessment (EPA), you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.
Future Prospects
We see all apprenticeships as a pathway to becoming a full member of staff once training is complete. This is an excellent opportunity to become a fully trained CAD design engineer.

COMPANY
Over 30 years of patternmaking & engineering solutions to the automotive, high performance and aerospace industries.
Summit is a long established company with an excellent reputation. We cover a massive variety of work within the engineering industry. Over the past 20 years we have trained and produced over 15 apprentices, most of which still work for the company today. The others who have moved on with the experience gained at Summit now hold high profile jobs at large companies such as JLR and Collins Aerospace. We offer direct comprehensive in house training with our team who have over 50 years of industry knowledge. As well external qualification supplied by MAKE UK. Also external training course in CAD software.
ROLE
Automotive engineering R&D projects for latest model year products, Tooling Engineering for Automotive, Motorsport & Aerospace castings.
• Design skills and knowledge.
• Windows based applications (Excel, Powerpoint)
• Learning Cad Programs (Autodesk / Catia V5)
• Solving problems
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions
• Produce technical drawings and layouts, 3D software
• Check that drawings meet quality and technical standards
• Find and fix inaccuracies or mistakes
• Work closely with engineers, designers and project staff
• Contribute to project meetings and presentations
• Keep accurate records and maintain different versions of your design work using systems
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
As well as paying a generous £8.50phr for your core hours of work, should you work overtime, the pay goes up to £11.34 for any time over 37 hours per week

Other Information
This role will be based in our CAD office which is a clean controlled environment. But there will be a need to occasional work on the shop floor or our machine shop to gain the needed basic engineering knowledge required to become a designer.
