Brief Description
In this role, you’ll join the Manufacturing team and support the development and production of Parker Meggitt’s products. You’ll gain hands-on experience and learn what it takes to succeed as an engineer in an innovative organisation.
Training to be Provided
Alongside your day role, you will work to complete your apprenticeship with your external training provider. This will give you the knowledge, training and external approval to do your job effectively.
Alongside your day role, you will work to complete your apprenticeship with MGTS. You will be given 20% off the job hours, this will give you the knowledge, training and external approval to do your job effectively.
Future Prospects
Upon successful completion of the programme - and subject to performance - you may have the opportunity to move into a permanent role within the team or business area where you completed your apprenticeship.
Vacancy Detail
Develop fitting and assembly skills:
- Learn how to put together parts and components using tools and hands-on techniques
Work with fluid power systems:
- Gain experience using systems that operate with liquids or gases, like hydraulics and pneumatics
- Support electrical wiring and testing: Learn how to safely wire electrical systems and carry out basic testing
Use turning machines:
- Operate machines that shape materials by rotating them at high speed
Learn milling techniques:
- Use machines to cut and shape solid materials accurately
Explore Computer Aided Design (CAD):
- Use software to read and create technical drawings
Understand engineering principles:
- Learn the basics of how and why machines and systems work through classroom learning and practical tasks
Other Information
- Be at least 16 years of age when the apprenticeship starts
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least the past three years prior to starting the apprenticeship
- Have completed full-time education before the apprenticeship is due to start
- For this programme, you must be able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance
