Brief Description
We are recruiting an enthusiastic Engineering Panel Wireman Apprentice to join our shop-floor production team. This apprenticeship combines practical, hands-on experience with structured training and further education to equip you with the core skills needed for a career in panel wiring and electrical assembly.
Training to be Provided
- Workplace-based learning with experienced panel builders.
- Off-the-job training and classroom learning with an approved training provider.
- Development of both electrical and practical skills as well as workplace skills such as communication, problem-solving, and health & safety awareness.
- Study towards the appropriate apprenticeship standard for an electrical panel wiring / engineering manufacturing technician.
Future Prospects
By the end of this apprenticeship you will have:
- Strong practical experience wiring and assembling electrical panels.
- A recognised apprenticeship qualification in engineering / electrical panel wiring.

About the Apprenticeship
We are recruiting an enthusiastic Engineering Panel Wireman Apprentice to join our shop-floor production team. This apprenticeship combines practical, hands-on experience with structured training and further education to equip you with the core skills needed for a career in panel wiring and electrical assembly.
You will work alongside experienced panel wiremen and engineers, learning how to accurately and efficiently build and wire control panels, read engineering drawings, and understand the fundamentals of electrical assemblies. You’ll develop both technical and soft skills, including communication and teamwork.
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be well-placed to begin your career as a qualified member of Labtec’s production and engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Throughout your apprenticeship you will learn to:
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels and enclosures to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Prepare, crimp, terminate, and loom wires neatly and accurately.
- Fit electrical components including switches, relays, connectors, terminals and harnesses.
- Read and interpret schematic diagrams, bills of materials, and wiring layouts.
- Work safely and professionally in a busy shop-floor environment.
- Take part in quality checks and testing procedures to ensure finished panels meet specification.
