Training to be Provided

The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2 standard.

On completion, the apprentice will receive EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) qualification. Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required, depending on current level.

Future Prospects

The apprentice would be expected to finish their L2, and move forward to becoming a fully qualified boat builder, choosing to specialise in one of the production areas:

  • Lamination

  • Fit out

  • Hypalon works

Driven candidates should be looking to complete 3-5 years as a boat builder and apply for internal progression to a team leader or supervisory role within the production areas. Further qualifications can be gained by attending courses with some of our major partners, such as Yamaha and Honda. Boat building skills, working with laminates, and understanding RIB’s is a niche that can lead to a highly fruitful career working with other OEM builders or as self-employed contract work.
