Other Information
Require a DBS check, as you will be working with children or vulnerable adults.
While the Community Activator Coach role is rewarding and community focused, there are several practical aspects of the job that candidates should consider. Working outdoors in all weather conditions. Many sessions and community activities take place in parks and open spaces, meaning coaches will need to be comfortable being active outside throughout the year.
Travel between community venues. Activities may be delivered across multiple sites, including community centres, schools, parks and leisure facilities. Access to reliable transport, or the ability to travel independently, will be important.
Active, hands-on work. The role involves setting up equipment, leading activities, moving between sessions and being physically engaged throughout the day.
Irregular and flexible working hours. Community needs may require evenings and weekends, particularly for events and family-focused activities.
Working with a wide range of participants. This includes individuals who may lack confidence, have low activity levels, need additional encouragement, or display challenging behaviours at times.
Adapting quickly to different environments. Coaches may need to adjust sessions on the spot based on weather, venue availability, or participant needs.
Balancing learning with delivery. As a Level 2 role, coaches will be developing their skills while delivering sessions, meaning there will be moments of challenge, reflection and growth with strict deadlines. Time management skills will be required.
