Working Week: 08:00 to 16:30 Mon-Thursday. 08:00 to 15:30 Friday. 30 minute lunchbreak and morning and afternoon tea breaks.
Brief Description
The role involves repairing aircraft flying controls for Boeing and Airbus fleets used by major global airlines. The apprentice will work with sheet metal and composite materials alongside experienced UK structural technicians, and support small-batch production of parts for export worldwide.
Training to be Provided
- Day release to Colchester Institute in Colchester.
- Onsite training.
Future Prospects
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the technician will aim to become an Aircraft Component Approved Technician within the organisation, with the ability to sign off their own work.
Vacancy Detail
- Work with experienced technicians to carry out repairs to aircraft flying controls and engine nacelles
- Carry out repair assembly work using hand and air tools.
- Fabricate repair parts from sheet metal and composite materials
- Assist in the testing of the component undergoing repair
- Carry out various measurement techniques to ensure parts are within tolerance
Other Information
The candidate will need to be able to travel to work in Braintree and attend college at Colchester Institute.
There may also be off-site training courses which the apprentice may be required to attend in the UK or overseas.
Most of the work will be carried out indoors on aircraft components. The work does not involve work on an aircraft.
