  • Working Week: A typical working week will vary according to business needs, to include some evening and weekend work as necessary. Typical working hours are envisaged to be between 10.00am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Brief Description

The Community School Sports Coach will work to support the health and wellbeing of their local community through the medium of sport. The successful candidate will have involvement across a range of programmes, including holiday camps, after-school clubs and Physical Education sessions in schools, among others.

Training to be Provided

Plymouth Argyle Football In The Community Trust - Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date. 



  • Community activator coach Level 2 qualification

Argyle Community Trust can offer a unique pathway through their apprentice programme, having structured progression opportunities from entry level coach, right through to degree and non-degree level professional qualifications, such as that of the Level 5 Primary School Physical Education Specialism and Level 6 Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership.

Vacancy Detail

Argyle Community Trust are seeking an enthusiastic and charismatic individual to support their community coaching remit. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a professional sports club context, whilst using their own passion for sport to engage and inspire others. The role will involve supporting experienced coaches in working across a range of age ranges, predominately focussing upon those of Primary and Secondary School age ranges.


The job holder is required to:



  • Learn about session planning, organisation and football/multi-sport development

  • Complete session planning and reviews

  • Assist with partner projects across all remits of the Trust

  • Assist Argyle Community Trust and partners with a range of events

  • Assist Lead Coaches at coaching sessions

  • Take registers and sign people in and out of sessions

  • Assist with coaching at schools in curriculum time

  • Assist with after-school clubs, junior kickers and multi-sport groups

  • Assist with administration and monitoring & evaluation of projects

  • Complete session preparation including equipment organisation and storage

  • Assist at community events and tournaments, including pre-event organisation
