Brief Description
Training to work in all areas of the nursery with different age groups of children. Gaining a full understanding of the EYFS, to plan activities and to record the children’s development as they move through the nursery. Work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities.
Training to be Provided
- Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
- Functional Skills English and Maths, if required.
- Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date.
Future Prospects
- Continue on to Early Year Educator Level 3 qualification

Working with children involves a comprehensive variety of duties including:
- Keeping children safe
- Creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere
- Being a key person and giving feedback to parents/carers
- Supporting children’s development according to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Recording children’s progress with their learning and development
- Developing your own role and engaging with staff training
Other Information
Working with young children can be tiring! You may be working shifts. Good time keeping and reliability is essential. You must be prepared to complete your qualification in the time allowance and attend all college workshops, as required by the training provider.
