Brief Description

Playsteps Nursery are looking for a new Childcare Apprentice. You will be studying toward your Early Years Educator apprenticeship L3.

Vacancy Detail

This is a fantastic opportunity to begin a career in early years education within a supportive and nurturing nursery environment. As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience across all areas of childcare, working with children from birth to 4 years old.


The nursery is organised into three age groups: 0–20 months, 20–30 months, and 30 months to 4 years. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in each room, allowing you to build confidence across different stages of child development. Over time, we will also work with you to identify your preferred age group, should you have one.


Day-Day Responsibilities:



  • Support the planning and delivery of fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities

  • Assist with daily routines, including mealtimes and sleep times

  • Provide personal care, including nappy changing and toileting (following initial training period)

  • Communicate with parents and carers about their child’s day (once confident and supported)

  • Work flexibly across different rooms to support the wider nursery team when required

  • Support outdoor learning experiences, including activities in the garden and woodland/forest area

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment, including tidying and cleaning at key times

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by identifying and reducing potential hazards
