Brief Description

Train as an Installation & Maintenance Electrician with ODS while earning and learning. You’ll gain hands-on experience across electrical installation, fault finding and maintenance, achieving a Level 3 qualification and industry-recognised professional accreditation.

Training to be Provided

Delivery model:



  • Work-based training with your employer

  • Day release during term time (approximately 1 day per week for 36 months)

  • Regular meetings with your training coordinator to monitor progress and well-being

  • Approximately 4 on-site assessment visits per year

  • Off the job training will count for at least 6 hours a week of an apprentice’s time at work

Future Prospects


  • On successful completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship, apprentices will be qualified to work as an electrician and eligible to apply for an ECS Installation / Maintenance Electrician Gold Card

  • Opportunities may be available for continued employment within ODS Property Services

  • Assist with installing and maintaining electrical systems and equipment

  • Support fault finding, diagnosis and repair of electrical installations

  • Carry out inspection, servicing and planned preventative maintenance

  • Assist with planned and reactive maintenance tasks across Council properties

  • Support rewiring projects and installation of new circuits as skills develop

  • Learn to work safely with electrical, electronic and data systems

  • Complete job records, learning logs and timesheets

  • Attend college, training sessions and complete apprenticeship assessments

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £8.00 per hour from April 2026. This applies to 16 - 18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over during the first year of their apprenticeship. After this, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in colllege.
